Protection from both heat and light is vital when it comes to fine fragrance. Lack of proper storage can cause a fragrance to deteriorate and lose its premium quality and aroma. The right bottle not only preserves fragrance, but encourages maceration, or the process during which oils, alcohol, and other components blend and refine over time, improving the scent and its performance. Like fine wine, fine fragrance only gets better with age if looked after with care.
There is one more detail that makes our fragrance bottles unique. A single Montale Parfums flacon has the capacity to hold 160 milliliters of liquid – yet we only fill it with 100 milliliters. Allowing a small amount of air to stay within the vessel accelerates the maceration process. While maceration is a chemical reaction that will occur within a fragrance no matter what, we accelerate that process with air circulation to help the ingredients harmonize safely away from sunlight.
